M ANILA LRT LINE 1 EXTENSIONMANILA, PHILIPPINES VIA
Architecture was commissioned to develop design concepts for
10 stations to the 11.8 km extension of Manila’s first Light Rapid
Transit System. The
station designs developed using themes of system-wide common identity,
respond to the tropical environment by providing shade with generous
roof over-hangs, and promoting cross breezes by maintaining open
platforms. Careful architectural, structural and cost co-ordination ensured an economic station design solution
