RENFREW AND RUPERT STATIONS
MILLENNIUM LINE VANCOUVER, CANADA
Renfrew and Rupert Stations are two of twelve stations on the newly completed Millennium Rapid Transit Line.
These stations have been designed as "twins" that bookend a transitional neighbourhood in Vancouver, Canada.
Derived from the same family of form and materials, they feature subtle differences in structure, siting, orientation and detail that result in two related but distinct pieces of architecture.
The materials used in these stations exhibit a West Coast flavour through a contemporary design that combines the structural
components of steel, glass and timber. The sleek, aerodynamic, asymmetrical lines of the roof allude
to movement - both of patrons and trains. The open concept incorporates the principle of "see-in, see-out", through the extensive use of glass and by the separation of the components.
Wooden beams ensure the patrons find the station a warm and welcoming place.
