Places for Everyone

Places for Everyone

We believe in the value of design to support the resilience of our communities. We designs for people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities with a focus on creating places for people along the entire social continuum. Our design work includes senior’s facilities, children’s learning environments, social housing, and accessible design, all places that help people contribute to and engage with their community over the long term. We know that one size does not fit all, but rather, we work to make thriving communities where residents invest and then continue to reinvest into an enduring future.

  • Kiwanis Seniors' Housing
  • Laurelhurst Community Center
  • HYAD - Housing for Young Adults with Disabilities
  • Using a distinctive, contemporary timber and beam aesthetic, West Vancouver’s Kiwanis Manor pushes the architectural boundaries of typical seniors’ housing.
  • The Masterplan provides thoughtful design through-out including Level 3 accessible units and communal spaces and on-site amenities that make seniors able to age in place.
  • The retrofit for the Laurelhurst Community Center renewed, updated and expanded a well-loved place holding the collective memories of its users over the previous seven decades.
  • While respecting the scale and form of the existing space, VIA introduced new amenities, reorganized common areas and diversified the facility to broaden the park’s user groups.
  • HYAD is a non-profit society that provides housing for young adults with developmental disabilities.
  • The proposed 16 unit, three storey, wood-frame building meets the organization’s Level 2 accessible design goals. The design also features sustainable elements such as recycled wood, solar overhangs, double glazed low-e windows and a connection to the Lonsdale Energy Corporation (LEC) District energy.
