It's possible that Catherine Calvert was born to be an architect. As a girl, she built villages for her collection of trolls and then teamed with her father to design a transit system for them, providing an alternative to hoofing it. In contrast and complement to her colleagues with fine arts degrees, Catherine came to architecture with a background in science and a strong interest in environmental sustainability. She balances her fascination with the power and force of the earth with the belief that it is little things that make the difference-she enjoys projects that are sustainable in the largest sense by maintaining continuity and connection to their place and community. Her mutable interests run the full spectrum, taking her from studying frozen flowing mud in the Yukon to weaving baskets.
