Favorite Project & Why

First of all, I love the variety at VIA, and the opportunity to design and detail at different scales on all types of projects. From interior details of a gallery space, to site layout for 20 buildings, and everywhere in-between-- I have had the opportunity to participate in it all. If I had to pick a favorite project however, it would be the recently completed Be?is beach pavilion and artist studio for the Makah Tribe in Neah Bay. The carvings and artwork by the community artists directly on the building structure is such a unique situation and fulfilling experience. Pair that with the fact that I actually went to the site and participated in the install of the flashing, trim, and siding, and voila, you have an unforgettable project!

Favorite Thing About Your Job

I get to actively make the world a better place by creating a better environment for all living beings.

Favorite Thing to Do

I like to enjoy the parks and public spaces in Seattle and pretend I’m a tourist. But then remember that I actually live here! The top of the hill at Gas Works Park is a major favorite – it gives you a survey of the entire city before you.

Three Things You Can't Live Without

Making and growing things, listening to music, and in general just getting outside.
