Canada Line is a 19.2 kilometre (11.9 mile) rapid transit line that services Vancouver, Richmond, and the Vancouver International Airport. Although it was originally scheduled to open November 2009, it opened 15 weeks ahead of schedule, well in advance of the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Emphasis was placed on wayfinding, in anticipation of a large number of visitors for the 2010 Winter Olympics that would be using the system for the first time. In addition to efficient design and specification of durable materials, a key sustainability strategy for the Canada Line stations was pioneering the use of new lighting standards.
