The Hurontario/Main Street Study supports Ontario’s Smart Growth Strategies, as well as MetroLinx’s Regional Transportation Plan. This project aims to bring ‘Main Street’ rapid transit beyond Toronto’s boundaries, linking major activity nodes in the Greater Toronto area.

VIA worked as part of a consultant team to establish a vision for the corridor that will integrate transit, land use, and urban design features. The plan includes strategies for phased implementation of a higher-order transit with interim staging requirements. We also explored two “mobility hubs” along the corridor.

These studies were designed to integrate transit and land use policy, address development phasing and identify needed infrastructure improvements such as street connections.
