Kelowna, BC
In 2008, VIA created a new city bylaw and associated design standards to encourage the redevelopment of Kelowna's downtown waterfront district.
Working with city stakeholders, the team created a unique Comprehensive Development district. The district zoning will help property owners assemble land for redevelopment within an environment of shared amenity including new parks, open spaces, and historic preservation. The plan also works to encourage walking and socially-supportive sidewalk and public open space activity.
