Urban Village Plans

In order to preserve a pristine Okanagan environment, Penticton is making use of an "urban village strategy" to accommodate growth. VIA is drafting the first of these plans for both Skaha and Peachtree Villages with a focus on improving walkability and public realm, increasing accessibility to shops and services, and energizing neighbourhood economies.

High Density Design Guidelines

VIA also provides on-going development application reviews of new high density development in the city. To facilitate this, VIA created High Density Guidelines and a framework for evaluating the various applications, which were included in Penticton's OCP. Developed jointly with the City and stakeholders, the Guidelines articulate the role of built form in creating attractive, walkable communities-tackling pragmatic issues from parking to density.
