VIA was appointed the prime consultant for the largest single rezoning project in Vancouver's history. The Quayside Neighbourhood comprises 2,500 residential units on a 17-acre parcel of land.
VIA's terraced building prototype provided a contrast in character to the typical downtown tower and worked to create a lively, secure pedestrian-oriented neighborhood by emphasizing the grade-level experience. Unique traffic control measures in conjunction with an emphasis on pedestrian movement and amenities throughout the site were additional features of the overall design.
The success of this complex rezoning project reflected a model process sought by the City of Vancouver.
