Vancouver, BC
VIA Architecture has completed several planning projects for the University of British Columbia:
University Boulevard and University Square, Vancouver, BC
VIA developed the University Boulevard Neighbourhood Plan. In 2004 we assisted in an international architectural competition, and are now a member of the winning team responsible for its implementation. The 450,000 square foot program includes several university, residential and commercial buildings, and a "University Square" integrated with the UBC transit Terminal.

VIA was a primary member of the multi-disciplinary urban planning team responsible for UBC's South Campus neighborhood plan for 2,000 dwellings, school, research and village centre which was approved in 2005. Our mandate was to balance ecological, social, and economic sustainability to make this neighborhood a model demonstration of UBC's commitment to the highest practices of sustainability.
University Boulevard, Vancouver, BC
VIA completed urban design and building planning studies for the University Boulevard "neighborhood" at the University of British Columbia campus to create a university square and associated mixed use and transit-oriented development at the heart of the campus. Integral to the study is the design of a below-grade bus interchange, to accommodate existing transit loads and future expansion, along with ancillary parking. Critical elements in the design include provision of efficient pedestrian patron interface and successful vertical transport systems.
