Opened in early 1999, this resort has been hailed as being the first resort community to provide a truly authentic experience of this particular desert. Our challenge was to express this community and its lifestyle in a context where eruption of irrigation lawns and extensive water features have been the norm for recent development.

We sought to create an exciting environment that is ecologically and culturally sensitive to the heritage and desert setting of the Coachella Valley. Our response was a classic, timeless architecture that enriches memories and expectations of the desert rather than corresponding to a “style”.
