The Northgate Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge is rapidly advancing towards a 2021 fall completion, coinciding with the opening of the Northgate Link Light Rail Station. Major superstructure elements are taking shape with all columns, abutment walls, and precast concrete spans in place. The steel truss main span is nearing completion in a fabrication facility in Tacoma. The 234 foot long steel truss will make its way up I-5 and be lifted into place over I-5, with installation planned for this spring.
Final elements will start to take shape this summer with the installation of the architectural guardrail systems. The bridge, when completed, will provide a critical bike and pedestrian connection for the North Seattle College and communities on the west side of I-5, linking them to the new light rail station and growing urban hub at Northgate, including the addition of the new, world-class hockey training facilities.
