Edmonds Street Waterfront Connector
Edmonds, WA
The Waterfront Connector is a proposed pedestrian and emergency access overpass to connect the City of Edmonds to their waterfront parks and marina. In 2016 the City determined the need to address this complex part of the city due to the regular interaction between trains, vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians and ferries.
The Connector was determined to be the best long-term solution to street-level railroad crossing conflicts, allowing pedestrians and emergency vehicles direct access to the waterfront in a seamless experience. Conceptual design focused on bridge concepts that integrate with the natural context and enhance the pedestrian experience.
The design team focused on creating a welcoming landing experience that balances the visual identity of the connector with safe and reliable user access.
