SR-520 Bridge Replacement
Urban Design + Landbridge
Seattle. WA
WSDOT SR 520 connects the northern half of Seattle to its main suburbs – Redmond, Kirkland, and Bellevue. This 4.6-billion dollar project is the largest transportation investment in the history of the state. VIA acted as lead urban design for east and west corridors, and produced 60% design of two new BRT stations integrated into the highway. VIA’s most recent phase, 30% design of two large landscaped freeway park lids, include the 1,400-foot-long landscaped Montlake lid with integrated transit hub, and 100% design of the west approach bridge. VIA also completed the final concept design of SR 520 bridge railing, cycling and pedestrian paths, and outlooks using various delivery models.
